Maria Broersma - YWAM Singapore School of Biblical Studies

Since 1993, I have been working with The School of Biblical Studies (SBS) a course offered by the training arm of Youth With A Mission (YWAM). It is a 9 month course to teach people how to study the Bible, in which we go through the whole Bible book by book. We run one school a year. I help with the details of running the course, teaching and training new staff, as well as training the students. I do this in conjuction with an American couple who have been the directors since 1994.

I joined YWAM in 1988, right after graduaing from university. From the time that I was in high school I knew that I wanted to be a missionary. I had studied Education in university and thought I might be a school teacher for missionary kids. My brother, David, was in YWAM at the time and suggested that I start with a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with them and see what happened after that. I did, and one thing led to another until I started working with the School of Biblical Studies (SBS)

How can you be Praying:   

At this time Maria is based in Indiana helping to care for her parents. She continues to fulfill her responsibilities with SBS via video conferencing as well as flying to Singapore at least 4 times a year.

Please be praying for the following:

Maria will be teaching 3 Bible/training classes and continues to help with the details of running the course, teaching and training new staff and training the students.

Pray the Lord will help her to balance her work and the care of her parents. Prayer for wisdom on how to care for them and to do it with a good heart.

November trip to Singapore to teach and help with the details of running the course. Jenifer Isenberg from the church will be accompanying Maria on this trip

Pray for the school of biblical studies full course in 2027 and the Lord’s wisdom for the teaching and organization.

Pray for there to be enough staff to run the school & for more students.

Pray for all those who have signed up for the “Free” class being offered, for them to be caught by the Word of God and choose to know more about God.

We are planning to do an evangelistic Bible study for Chinese speakers.

Pray for the Bible team in Singapore to get people to commit to join the new outreach efforts, and more open doors for the teams to help people study the Bible more.
